Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jun 12, 2024 6:16 pm Hi everyone, Hoping someone can give us some much needed advice. We've been dealing with a draftsman and his architect employee (yes) for over two years now. They've been helping us design our energy efficient home. The thing is the whole process has been painstakingly slow. It's not purely their fault, the council has been slow and we've taken time to choose our windows etc. In December they told us that we were close to getting our plans finished and would be able to lodge our plans with our building surveyor. That was six months ago. We are going out of minds with frustration. His architect employee has gone home to get married (OS) and hasn't returned as his family is sick. He's supposed to be working remotely from home and he obviously isn't. What can we do? What rights do we have here? We don't get any straight answers from this guy and the time is ticking away. This is a no brainer. Take them to someone else to get finalised. You can't leave your destiny in the hands of someone who is completely underperforming. They're yours (unless you ended up in one of those cheaper arrangements where you don't own the rights and the build will be tendered to the architects preferred builders only) The only thing to add to these comments is that where possible it's always good to try and work with people than just say "no" because you can.
