Looking for a builder

Hi all - 8 years after our last build we're looking to do it again. This time we're looking for a very different design.

We're looking for a double-storey build suitable for a wide block 20 M. We're looking for a Theatre + Family + Dining + Bed with full bath + Study downstairs bonus small retreat/lounge for the kids. Upstairs we are after 4 beds all with WIR + ensuites + Retreat + Study. We've looked at volume builders where plans are good but facades are a let down and where facades are good, plans are disappointing.

Has anyone built a similar large family home with a volume builder and happy to share the builder name and your experience with your builder?

First of all be clear with what exactly you want or have almost ideas in your mind. Then follow these steps.

Look for experts like builder or building designer who can design and build a house just for you.
Share what you want in your house, like rooms and layout.
Work with them to draw out your house on paper, inside and out.
Pick out all the stuff you want in your house, like floors, walls, and fixtures.

Building a custom home takes a bit more time and effort, but it means you get exactly what you want, both inside and out!

You are the 3rd person this week with a 20m block :-D

I am building my own on a 22m wide block ( about to start in a couple of weeks). If there are no volume builders catering for 20m wide blocks then maybe I should corner the market. JJ.

There must be volume builders that do acreage etc who have bigger designs, like Macdonald Jones, but there must be others as well

PS I just did some googling and a few names came up like Better Built, Carlisle, Montgomery. Can't comment on the quality but it seems that there are a few out there.
