Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Apr 02, 2024 8:26 am Hi everyone, I am most of the way done with a new build going through a custom home builder in NSW. It has been as massive headache getting things done with them, very slow and just feeling like they are in the clouds. Some things they get finished within a day, others it's been nearly 2 months and still not done. Anyways, my question is related to the final inspection and things found AFTER the final inspection but BEFORE doing the final handover and payment. I brought an inspector to site about 2 months ago and we walked through the house and felt quite pressured and rushed throughout the whole process, he made a report and this was included for the items to be completed. Since then the list the inspector made is maybe only 50% completed. I was able to spend the weekend having access to the property by the site manager and I found many, many more issues I want them to make right, extremely poor painting, damaged windows everywhere, chips in counter top, chips in basins, damage to joinery, missing items such as microwave, half a dozen door handles all scratches, one custom made internal French door was done VERY poorly... things like this. I compiled this into a few PDF documents and sent this to them asking for it to be done. What are my rights on having the builder make good all of the things I found after the inspector had a look at the property and can I force them to have this done before my final payment? Am I screwed because they were not picked up during that inspection when I signed off on it? There are a lot of private inspectors should have stayed working as tradies!!
