The block of land we have our eye on is offered by a real estate agent, and they have a volume builder lined up to provide house and land "packages" in that estate. Although, these are packages in name only as there is a separate contract for the land and land prices are listed separately.
Now, we're thinking we don't want to go with this particular builder.
The question then, is, what's in it for the real estate agent if we go with that builder? Do they get a payment from the builder, a commission of sorts? If so, how much? As obviously that affects how amenable the agent will be to bargaining, if they are making less as it is due to us not going with their builder.
Also in a more general sense, in normal circumstances can you expect to bargain agents down on land prices in new estates? I have read on here that you wouldn't have much luck trying that with a volume builder, but how about with a "volume land releaser" ie a new estate? (In actual fact this is only a small estate with about 15 blocks under that agent)
