Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Mar 06, 2024 8:00 am Hi, We are about to order a tender with EBH for Savoy 24 in Thornton office. As ours is a slopey block, there are two splits needed to fit it on our land as there will be about 1.8 m drop from back to front of the house. First split is in the garage, and second split covers the laundry and the front sitting room. Should we look for a private certifier because of this or leave it to whoever EBH employs (Tyrell or Local)? I am with Lake Macquarie City Council. How about going with council PCA? This is a really interesting point. You are right Council can certify but I am wondering if anyone has used a council inspector recently and how was the experience? I am genuinely interested in hearing feedback. I wonder if they are more thorough than private certifiers and what was the timing like? Everyone I know automatically use private certifiers but I genuinely wonder what the council experience is like. We all know that the private system is far from perfect. We are forced to use council engineers for driveway inspections and those guys and girls have always been thorough and professional. Re: PCA needed for EBH or Tyrell is good enough 8Mar 14, 2024 3:18 pm Most of the time, council will push you out to a private certifier as it ties up their limited resources. Where a builder has gone belly up, the certifier passes the file and any and all certificates and inspection results over to the council. These jobs are normally the jobs council must undertake further inspections. This is due to most insurance policies issued to certifiers excluding them from taking on a job started by a different certifier.
