Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Mar 02, 2024 1:15 pm Hi folks, Hope this finds you well. I am looking at a new build in Cannonvale/ Bowen area. To make things worse, it is a C3 zone. The vision is for a double storey house where downstairs will be garage/ workshop and upstairs bedrooms/ living room, etc. I did a 2D plan and got an estimate and I nearly fell off my chair. It was exorbitant. So thinking of doing things differently. A single storey house but will have to built up on stilts so that I can capture the views & because of floods ( you never know, there's always the 1 in a 100 years flood ) Besser Blocks will be my go to with a mix of colorbond or other cladding. I have project managed a few renovations and it was a learning curve. BUT owner builder sounds intense and I will have to move closeby. The other option is to hire a builder till lock up stage. Before I choose which way to go, I truly need your help and sound advice. Anyone who can help in the design process, in terms of what's the most effective way I can go about this? Anyone who has done owner builder in QLD and knows and has documented the process? Anyone who has project managed or any builders that could help me out with this. The block is relatively flat. BTW, I have been looking at established houses but I just can't find something that will tick most of the boxes and the ones to die for, I will need the winning lotto ticket. Thanking you in advance and sorry for the long text. what's the rationale on this? In my mind, the risk weepholes mitigate isn't solved by acrylic render. 9 82114 We recently moved into our new build. We have no idea what is happening as every wall has a perfectly straight horizontal line going through it. It stands out terribly.… 0 17055 If the build keeps returning, thats a plus!! but it would also suggest he doesnt know what his looking for, an independent inspector should have fresh eyes on the issue. Good luck 1 18319 ![]() |
