Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Nov 01, 2008 8:04 am Hey all,
Just purchased a small block (6.1m x 25m) in Melbournes inner north and was wondering if anyone has had any experience with builders on this sort of land size. I guess what i'm looking for is builder recommendations for the inner north, would be great if there was a builder that had experience working with this type of block. thanks d Re: Building on a small block 2Nov 01, 2008 7:41 pm Hi dmcclurg
Another forum member Mr T had a pretty narrow block, not sure of the dimensions but you might want to check his thread here: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=9959 I think he was using Boutique Homes. Hope some others can help you out with advice / recommendations too. Re: Building on a small block 3Nov 01, 2008 9:04 pm By comparison, our block was huge - 10.7m wide! I think the smallest Boutique home is around 6m wide, which of course would be too wide for your block, given setbacks. I guess God didn't use subbies... Thanks 6Nov 02, 2008 8:05 am Thanks all for the replies, Boutique homes look great but as mr T suggested too wide for our block.
We were thinking of using a concrete tilt slab structure, has anyone had any experience with this? A question for mr T: Did you have much trouble in the planning process with regard to building a two story home beside a single story home? I am sure it's posible just wodering what the process and regulations are. Thanks again doug Re: Building on a small block 7Nov 02, 2008 8:34 am all regulations and process written in rescode 54 but you need to know councils policy as well, check their schedule to zoning, by the way which council is it anyway? You should seek professional advice for the design, simply picking a builders plan and hoping it will be approved is high chance of leading to dissapointment, you should ensure the design complies with town planning 4 4416 Give Jonathan a call.
