Not sure about the dark tiles, lovely colour but I never like dark floors. regards sean Re: Coral Hamilton 278, Handover Done 62Jan 29, 2009 7:23 pm Look'n good. Your tiles for the laundry/bathroom and ensuites are the same as ours except we have chosen a larger tile. Very nice choice!!!
Wow, I can't believe your builder has let you know an approximate handover date already.. mmmm we are only a few days behind your build also with coral.. maybe I should ask ours... then again maybe not.. I don't want to jinx it Built a modified "Daydream 279" .. Cor@l Homes on a flat 4473m block!! And lov'n it!!! Re: Coral Hamilton 278, Handover Done 63Feb 06, 2009 5:14 pm Well we have fallen a little behind again, some plaster had to be fixed up before the painter goes in. I spoke to the painter on the phone and he is starting on Monday, we have upgraded our paint to Dulux 101 for $400, hope this was a good idea. Re: Coral Hamilton 278, Handover Done 64Feb 06, 2009 5:55 pm Sorry to hear things haven't gone to plan for you but great news that there's a bit more progess in the right direction.
Is that the wash and wear paint? Friends of ours upgraded to that and said it wasn't worth it. I don't know if the Coral painters do it, but they're pretty sure their painters watered down the paint (being white you can't tell) and consequently it hasn't been effective and looks pretty *** too. Nothing like the display home. They ended up offering to pay the painter MORE out of their pocket to get them to come back and do it properly. Re: Coral Hamilton 278, Handover Done 65Feb 06, 2009 7:41 pm Well it looks like the race is on...lol, our painter is starting on tuesday I think.
We also are getting the wash and wear paint (280 directly through the painter) for our daydream 279+ We also hope it is as good as it supposed to be. Built a modified "Daydream 279" .. Cor@l Homes on a flat 4473m block!! And lov'n it!!! Re: Coral Hamilton 278, Handover Done 66Feb 06, 2009 7:52 pm Just wanted to ask raw29983, have you got you invoice for the fixing stage yet? We just recieved ours today and the paint hasnt been done yet. I thought fixing stage was after the painting.. Built a modified "Daydream 279" .. Cor@l Homes on a flat 4473m block!! And lov'n it!!! Re: Coral Hamilton 278, Handover Done 69Feb 14, 2009 10:25 pm I have updated my Blog with some more pictures.
The painting has finished, the Plumbing and Electrics will be finished by Tuesday with the site cleanup done on Wednesday or Thursday. The painters took only 3 days to do the whole house including the gloss work, but I must say that it is pretty obvious to me that it was done quickly. There are runs everywhere in the gloss work, a lot of areas haven't been sanded and some of the corners are just terrible. . My house is going to look like it got the chicken pox next week when I do the PC inspection with the site supervisor. Re: Coral Hamilton 278, Handover Done 70Feb 15, 2009 2:59 pm I just got back from the house and I am even more disappointed with the paint. I'll give you a little back ground to the story first.
The painter call me on either Monday 2nd Feb to talk about our paint selection. During the conversation he asked me if I would like to upgrade the paint to Dulux 101. He said he would only charge the difference between the standard paint and the 101, but we had to pay $400 before he would order it because he had been burnt before. I asked if we were getting a 2 coat or 3 coat system because I didn't want the Dulux if it was 2 coat as I would add a 3rd coat at a later stage. He assured me that I was getting a 3 coat system and highly recommended the Dulux 101. He even told me how he does the paint, first coat is the sealer, 2nd cost is the cheaper coloured paint, and the 3rd coat would be Dulux 101. As the house is now, one of two things has happened. 1) I only got a 2 coat system and the painter * 2) The painter has to come back and do the 3rd coat and the SS is not aware of this. I find this unlikely as the painter has removed all of the drop sheets and other protection, there is absolutely no sign that the painter is coming back, and the SS has booked the plumber and electrician to finish off on Monday and Tuesday. There is evidence to me that only 2 coats have been done, for example - EDITED I have edited this as to not show my hand to the builder before I have there opinion. I want my money back from the painter for the Dulux 101 unless it is applied as we agreed on, and that is as the final coat in a 3 coat system, and if I am told that three coats have been applied then that is a whole other problem the the builder is going to have to fix. Bottom line is that I am not happy at all, the paint looks terrible. even if it turns out the painter has done a three coat system, the plaster and wood work the he has applied it to has not been finished as it should have been, it is rough as guts, some of the walls feel like sandpaper. What should I do about this, I am not happy at all, I have sent the SS a text asking him to come out and inspect the painting. At least I didn't pay the painter in cash, so there is a money trail. And to Coral Homes - I want some answers, I did not ask about this upgrade, I was offered to me by a tradesmen employed by you, so I hold you responsible as well.[/b][/i] Re: Coral Hamilton 278, Handover Done 72Feb 15, 2009 3:51 pm As you say, you actually have two issues.
Firstly - the job was either inadequate, or a very poor one. Secondly - You paid for an upgrade you're not sure you recieved. The first you should take up with your SS - as this to me is a Coral problem. Upgrade or none, the worksmanship should be good & you paid for three coats in your contract. The second, you may have to take up with the painter himself. Coral aren't going to do much about an upgrade that you purchased over & above said contract. Hindsight I guess would have had you turn down the upgrade unless he was willing to accept payment after you'd seen the result. Re: Coral Hamilton 278, Handover Done 73Feb 15, 2009 6:04 pm If it were me, I would be contacting my construction manager first thing Monday morning. I would think that the SS needs to maintain good relationships directly with the tradies, so they might not be as direct as you'd want them to be. Also, if you take it to the manager, your SS will know you're dead serious about it. That sounds exactly like the outcome that my friends had. They could still see the joins in their plaster, drips running down the wall etc. As you say, it is their tradie, they should only be putting you in touch with reputable suppliers and this guy is obviuosly as ******* as they come.
When we're up to the painting stage, I plan on buying a tin of the same paint to compare consistency to theirs to ensure it hasn't been watered down. I think I'll also take a book on site that day and babysit the painter to make sure they do the 3 coats. Grrr. Keep us informed on if/how things are resolved. Re: Coral Hamilton 278, Handover Done 74Feb 18, 2009 10:44 pm New photos on my blog, fit out is 90% done, doing my Pre Handover inspection and 'Dot Off' with the Site Supervisor at 7:30 on Monday. Re: Coral Hamilton 278, Handover Done 76Feb 19, 2009 8:52 am Yeah, I've been wondering the same thing too. Hope they were understanding and it's all been rectified.
Can you please let me know what the electrician charged you to install the extra pendant lights? We're planning on putting in a few of these too. Is that Dulux White on White you've used? The colour looks great, it's hard to tell in the pictures that there's any problems. Re: Coral Hamilton 278, Handover Done 77Feb 23, 2009 11:27 am We just had our pre-handover inspection. It looks like it could be a little while before the actual handover occurs. My house looks like it has the chicken pox, we put up a few hundred 'fix me' stickers(No, I am not joking about this number, It was a few boxes worth). There was a bit of a design issue and the window in the kitchen needs to be moved to allow for the rangehood to fit and that will take a couple of weeks, after that I need to get the Kitchen splash back quoted again to allow for the new size. That will also take a few weeks to get made up. The builder tells me that I cannot get the Certificate of occupancy until these things are done. On the positive side, he tells me that I can start on the flooring in the mean time.
As always I have updated the photo's on my Blog Re: Coral Hamilton 278, Handover Done 79Feb 23, 2009 3:33 pm The handover inspection was with my Site Supervisor and his boss. My Dad also came along for the start to point out some problems with the gutters and downpipes as he is a roofer by trade. Re: Coral Hamilton 278, Handover Done 80Feb 25, 2009 9:05 pm Coral have started on our Pre-Handover list, the most obvious being moving the kitchen window over so that our range hood will fit in. Also our downpipes have finally been connected, although the one at the front has not been installed as discussed at the pre-handover inspection, it has a funny looking bend at the top instead of being straight.
Updated Pics on my blog. I work with owner, he/she is my man on the ground and I instruct them when to visit the site and take photos and I have other tools in the bag. 4 15435 I am in the same situation, would you be able to give some insights in to this? I am in SA 8 17190 Depends what you're current inclusions are, but we're not including wardrobes and will just use second hand ones until we can save later on to get them built. Also have a… 3 11819 |
