Hi,
we had a independent inspection done at plate height. Inspector found that the footings for the alfresco piers which come under the main roof where poured in the wrong position and consequently the piers have no footings and nothing to tie the roof down to in that area. The independant inspector recommended the piers come down with the footings repoured with rod to enable the roof to be tied to, inline with the drawings.
I have notified the builder but heard nothing back. Progress has continued with nearly all the roof timbers now up. Today I got the bill for the plate height brickwork.
Would you with-hold payment until the problem is rectified? The only information I can find in the building contract is the builder has 4 months to fix problems but by that time the roof will be on and house rendered.
thoughts appreciated
