Concrete vs Hebel

Hi Guys,

I am building a new double storey house in Guildford, Sydney. I will be spending they majority of my time downstairs and want to minimise the noise from those upstairs.

From reading these forums, it seems concrete is best for this purpose; but I don’t have any objective way of comparing the noise reduction to other options like Hebel or Alphafloor.

I tried visiting display homes, but they all seem to have straight timber floors.

So my questions to the wise people of this forum would be:

1. Assuming we have deployed Hebel with yellow tongue and acoustic insulation in between the floor joists, how would that compare to a concrete floor, does it cut out 50% less noise or 90% less noise?
2. What type of sounds should I expect to hear from a Hebel floor, e.g. would a 2 year old running upstairs be heard from downstairs?
3. Is there anywhere is Sydney I can actually hear what a Hebel/yellow tongue/acoustic installation floor would sound like?
4. Does anyone know have first hand experience of both (or Alphafloor) and would like to share their thoughts of how they stack up against each other?

I am assuming concrete floors are more expensive, so just trying to evaluate if the extra cost is worth it to me. I am still in my design phase, so I don’t have quotes to go off yet.
