No 'news' updates or amendment/correction to 'Central Park' being completed August 2011!!!!!!! Progress on Park is painfully slow. Would be interested to know a little more about the 'intergrated housing' marked down near the shopping centre. Just wondering if these are going to be multi level apartment blocks, surely not all the way out here in Cranbourne? They have built a lot of these in the back streets in Ringwood near Eastland (5 or 6 levels) and they are really unattractive. I didn't see them on the Masterplan when I bought into the estate. kayjay Re: The Avenue at Casey 885Oct 15, 2011 5:42 pm AdPR Hi all, I was after external Flueing options for my rangehood. I was wondering whether anyone has done it. any leeds? any references? There are a couple of options you can go with. You can put an 125mm external flue and have it come out through the roof. But then you will have to put a vent cowl and dektite on the roof. Also Robinhood sells another product which allowsyou to vent the rangehood outside into your eaves. I have put the link to their website, so you can see what I mean. http://www.robinhood.com.au/ducting BTW, it is your builders responsibility to make sure the rangehood is vented. I must go up and check ours now that you reminded me. But I can guarantee nearly everybody on here would'nt have had it done. Re: The Avenue at Casey 887Oct 21, 2011 8:57 am Thanks Syus and congratulations Kathy&Ben… welcome to the Avenue . I hope you are settling in nicely and the transition was smooth. We finally ended up in signing up with TPG (6 month contract). I did not want to lock myself in for 24 months so opted not to use Telstra. Does anyone one know where I can get some soil? Re: The Avenue at Casey 889Oct 21, 2011 11:10 am There is a hairdresser at eve central. Near IGA. Butcher would be best at Eden rise shopping centre on Clyde road. Couple of minutes northwards. Re: The Avenue at Casey 890Oct 21, 2011 2:11 pm tasman meats is a wholesale butcher on Enterprise Drive, Berwick about 5 mins from here turn left onto Clyde Rd then left again just before railway crossing. When we purchased, we were made aware that there would be some medium density housing towards the front of the estate, but examination of the stages board just near the front entry shows it to be more extensive than we'd been led to believe. A bit of online research tonight seems to be telling me that the purpose of integrated housing is to provide affordable low cost housing. Which of course nobody is really against in theory, but when it comes to a multi-level low cost housing just at the corner of my street - well, call me a snob, but I start to get a bit worried. Like everybody else, I paid a lot of money for my new home. I want to live the suburban dream, with a block of land, a house and a garage - if I wanted to be live in an environment with lots of people jammed into a shoebox - well then, I'd move back to the city! From what I can see City of Casey haven't finalised their Housing Strategy but they do seem to be committed in principle to the idea of integrated housing. I'm going to hope that any plans for our estate are just that, plans, and that there's no really dedicated driver to push these boxes up before anybody has really had an opportunity to discuss just what it means to have them established in the Avenue Estate. (Maybe like trees, it will be written there in the plans but not at the forefront of anybody's action plan.) Anywayz - nice to meet you all, cheers, caz Re: The Avenue at Casey 892Oct 21, 2011 6:15 pm Hey Caz, I was discussing the intergrated housing with my friend just yesterday. Her husband was until 12 months ago working in some Governmental department responsible for planning. He seems to believe that they will be apartment blocks of between 2 and 3 stories as this is what the previous government had in mind when they made it compulsory to have intergrated housing in all new estates. It think this may be what they have in the estate on Cranbourne Rd however on a smaller scale. I agree with you that we need to have affordable housing but I just don't want to see high density apartment blocks of 4 stories plus. I wonder how we can find out more?
