Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and did not over do it on the Christmas ham and champagne like I did!
Have a question for those of you who have already moved into the estate and have their phone connected.
Were you charged a crazy amount to have your phone connected or something quite reasonable?
When I called to arrange to have my phone connected I was quoted $99.00 to move and re-connect, now today I received a bill for $370.00. This was for a technician to come out and flick a switch at the side of my house. He was here less than 5 minutes.
When I called and questioned the amount I was first told It was because I got phone and cable connection (I have wireless and have had for 3 years) then I was told it was because to connect 'my' phone they had to upgrade and download software to the exchange but then when I asked to speak to a Supervisor he tells me it was because the technician had to come to my house.
They are telling me I was told it would cost that amount (somebody typed into their computer that all fees and conditions were advised so therefore it must be gospel). I however think I would remember that as I would have told them where they could stick their phone connection and just stayed with my mobile plan which gives me ample phone calls each month.
Would be interested in feedback.

I would definitely be speaking to a supervisor - thats not good enough. I would not let it rest there.
When our time comes, I will be writing down all the receipt numbers for phone calls to telstra in case they try to tell me that I was wrong, then I will quote what they say. Why should you pay for cable when you didn't request it, how can they say that you agreed to it, when as you say you have had wireless for some time.
They never installed cable, just an example that they don't know what they are talking about.
