Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jul 14, 2023 12:24 am We are fairly close to our house being finished. The plaster used on our use is the British Multifinish gypsum. Now I know that 99% of houses in WA use Whiteset and the advice is to seal it with an oil based sealant but everything I have read for the Multifinish says to use a "mist coat" which is acrylic paint mixed with water so the paint penetrates into the gypsum as this plaster just sucks up moisture. Just want others opinions as in Australia I dont think anyone does this, not sure if its because this product is not widely used here or its conditions based ? Re: Painting Multifinish Plaster 4Jul 14, 2023 1:54 pm Hi, Have used the Dulux 1 step, oil base on my walls(white set), out of can it’s already a more thinner product than a final coat paint Also in water base Water or oil is okay Dulux recommends 10% addition of solvent (water/hydrocarbon) to aid in application on porous or “difficult ” surfaces Could sample a 20% addition This is the coat which holds everything to plaster, greatest amount of binder is crucial It’s more about the application of paint to bare plaster, bit easier to apply yeah i couldnt picture it issue either, but i could clearly picture what they were doing wrong haha 2 10754 Our 6m high Cathedral ceiling has 0 insulation, just plaster, wrap and tiles as far as I can tell.
