Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Oct 29, 2008 6:50 pm I'm trying to find a color chart for Acratex render colors. My house has just had the front rendered and I'm pretty sure they used the wrong color but as I can't find a color chart there is no way of telling...
The color I chose is 'Sorell' (it's a PD house BTW). I'm pretty sure the color I chose is a pale grey with a slight hint of green but the color they have used is more like colorbond Paperbark or a beige color. Can you believe I can't find a single example on the internet of what the color 'Sorell' might look like. Can anyone help or does anyone know for a fact what this color should like like? Thanks. Re: Acratex render colors 2Oct 29, 2008 6:57 pm never mind I just found it in the dictionary - 'redish brown color'.
Bugger me, how did that happen? - I never would have picked that color in a million years. I think the selection people stuffed up. Anyone know if you can change the color of this Acratex stuff? Can it be sprayed over and still last? Re: Acratex render colors 3Oct 29, 2008 7:46 pm Mozzie - you could go back in to Hopetoun and have a look at their sample...??? Bit of a hike, I know...They always look different in larger amounts, though - I thought the one I chose (Time Capsule) may have been wrong , too - looked almost identical to Dune in the little sample, quite different applied to my whole front arch!!!!
Check out Sharee's "oops" thread in Michelle's Interior Design Lounge - she's havingthe same trouble. I wanted to know whether or not you can render over the top of render, too!!! Can't you just go into your local hardware store or paint shop and sight it from one of their fan decks? There could possibly be more than one 'Sorell', i.e, one from Wattyl and one from Dulux. You can get a sample pot of the colour 'Sorell' and test it on the rendered wall. The range on Acratex colours is virtually un-limited; there is no Acratex colour chart as such. I work in a paint shop, so if you can wait till sunday, I can check it out for you. Re: Acratex render colors 6Oct 29, 2008 10:15 pm petal I wanted to know whether or not you can render over the top of render, too!!! You don't need to render over render to change the colour, just paint it. The process is as follows: bricks are rendered first (usually with plaster's sand and cement) to ensure that the surface fill any surface irregularities whilst giving the wall a flat smooth surface. 'Acratex' (a texture coat) is used on top to give you your texture in a wide range of finishes. This 'texture coat' can be coloured (to the colour that you select), but I would always recommend that the surface was then painted with a good quality exterior paint or better still, Acratex 'Acrasheild'. Re: Acratex render colors 7Oct 29, 2008 10:29 pm Thanks KWOOD2 - at least I now know the color can be changed if I want it to be.
I'll pop out tomorrow and check what Sorell should actually be and if I was wrong and told them the wrong color or just completely forgot that I chose it (it's possible as it was 9 months ago after all) then I can change it later if it still bugs me. When you tell them your color selections and then receive the document later on in the mail you can never know if they put in the wrong color or if in fact you did choose those colors. I guess I'll never know.. 2 10948 Hi Alex, Thanks for the reply again. I had a chat with the builder, he said he will use primer, then hydrotec which comes with colour and sealer as well. I can see all the bumps… 0 7967 |
