We have been assured that all is as it should be. Apparantly, this hole is for a breather pipe that will be run up through the wall and out through the roof because the ensuite toilet is not on an external wall. We have also been assured that the pipe for the toilet is there despite not being visible at present, as is the drain pipe for the bath which is also currently invisible. I have pits all along my path, so the water tends to drain away from the house and into the pits.
