The meticulous Korean nature meant that they did an awesome job - but proper supervision by the boss was key. So it's not always a bad thing in terms of quality Not always, it's more isolated to this particular company. I should put a disclaimer that I'm not having a go at the entire Korean tradie population, just this company who seems to employ generally unskilled labour and promotes cheap finishing (which, I must admit, most people wouldn't even notice). When I first met them I would have never believed this but well things change.... My issues are not as bad however. But given the amount we spent ($400,000) on the house, it certainly isn't very impressive at all. Was their anything you would suggest in hindsight to other people building with Wisdom to avoid the problems you had? Any info would be appreciated. Nav Re: Eden Brae 187Jul 05, 2009 10:02 pm Hi ok180, I'm new to this forum and currently not sure to build with Eden Brae or not due to their prices, but I love their floor plan, Windsor 46. Their display home are excellent compared to Wisdom, I think. Can you give any advice of how Eden Brae in terms of upgrades and changes, site cost, etc? Thanks. ok180 I had tenders done by both companies. I found Wisdom to be better value than E BH although we still went with EBH cause we simply liked the floor plan better. A lot depends also weather you actually like all these extras wisdom give you. For instance if you don't like those square basins they give you no doubt they won't give you the full credit etc. All the builders are the same for that kind of thing. I can't comment on the build quality because i haven't started, i can say though up to this point (in council next week) EB have been very good, their process from one stage to another runs well. Just watch out for the upgrades, the term charge like bulls applies here!!! I tried to include most of the upgrades in the tender and then negotiated on price prior to accepting, saved about 5k doing this. Waiting for 2010 Land registration.... Re: Eden Brae Homes vs Wisdom Homes - Help please! 189Jul 30, 2009 10:21 am Hi Stonecutter, Not sure if this is off topic, but following your blog and forum posts, and wanted to know what the commute time from Stonecutters to the city is. We are still deciding where to build land... (Looking to build the Wisdom Manhattan 42) Thanks, MCBermuda Re: Eden Brae Homes vs Wisdom Homes - Help please! 190Jul 30, 2009 10:40 pm Hi mcbermuda...You could either catch a bus from colebee to blacktown train station with westbus (prob 15 mins) then express train to city (Parramatta, Redfern, Central, Townhill) 40 mins or so. On that express train you would be hard pressed to get a seat... I know people who drive to blacktown station and you would need to walk about 10 mins for free parking. Otherwise you could drive to Rooty Hill or Doonside train station and get free easy parking and catch a train that would probably take you around an hour for the train trip... You would easily get a seat on the train though. Oh and you can also drive to quakers hill train station as well.. You would be looking around 40 - 50 mins train trip as well... If you drive the whole way I dont know how long but it wont be plesant.. Re: Eden Brae Homes vs Wisdom Homes - Help please! 191Jul 31, 2009 9:56 am Or you could drive to the TWAY on Old Windsor Rd, park your car and get onto a bus that takes you to the city. 45min journey from bus stop at Stanhope gardens to Central Re: Eden Brae Homes vs Wisdom Homes - Help please! 193Aug 14, 2009 7:57 am Sorry I didn't get to this post before! There are some express trains from Doonside and Rooty Hill - takes about 48 minutes. Plenty of parking if you get there before 7.30am I'm hoping to be working from home when we live at Stonecutters Ridge - I'll be driving DH to Blacktown Station each morning and doing the pickup - so if you move in - happy to car pool! After 4 years - we're in! Re: 194Mar 22, 2010 1:46 pm stonecutter1309 welcome bigboy52 if you sign a tender, it locks in the price and you have a certain amount of time (3 months I think) to start building. If construction hasn't started - you'll be charged a small increase (I think they charge you half the published base price increase) I'm not sure what you mean by your son wants to "start everything" - if you mean start construction - no way that will happen - but sign the building contract and go to council - absolutely. The timeline works something like this (courtesy of Anita): Sign the final building contract Make colour selections Then 1 week for them to prepare your application to go to the developer (if necessary). Developer approval is usually 2 weeks. Then it takes 1 week to prepare the application to go to Council. Council approval usually takes 4-6 weeks - expect a little longer if it's going to be there over the Xmas period. If you signed a contract today - you could theoretically be breaking ground mid-January (assuming your land is titled) Hi All, I was reading this thread because I'm keen to understand how Eden Brae is rated (in terms of their customer service, punctuality and etc). I came across this old old post by stonecutters "If the construction hasn't started, we'll be charged small increase" ... I'm trying to get my head around this ... if the construction hasn't started, why do we (the customer) get charged for something that we don't have control of? Re: Re: 195Mar 22, 2010 2:28 pm tempura I came across this old old post by stonecutters "If the construction hasn't started, we'll be charged small increase" ... Hey Tempura - every 6 months the base price of most project home companies increase slightly. They have standard set times for getting DA, CC etc done. If for some reason things drag on - even if they are out of your control - your signed contract allows them to take into account an increase in the base price. Just have a look at deletedpenguin's thread - council issues meant that they weren't going to start construction by the specified date and their builder (Big M) was going to charge the increase in base price. It doesn't seem fair because you have no control - but not much you can do about it! After 4 years - we're in! Thanks stonecutter for the info. btw is there many land still available and being released over at StoneCutters Ridge? Re: Eden Brae Homes vs Wisdom Homes - Help please! 197Mar 22, 2010 2:55 pm Still land available and a new release is about to be released (Banksia I think). 5 new homes under construction at the moment with at least 2 more due to start in the next few weeks. I just got this email from Mark Pardi. Indeed, there's still plenty of land available compared to the Ponds. I wonder why is that? Re: Eden Brae Homes vs Wisdom Homes - Help please! 199Mar 23, 2010 6:51 am Hey Tempura - possibly price - the land isn't over priced - but because the blocks are bigger than The Ponds - you end up paying a little more. It might be the top end of new home buyer budgets. After 4 years - we're in! I built with EB back on 2009.
