I'm new to this site, and forum - in fact new to forums full stop! I'd be very grateful for any info about the flexibility of building contracts. I'm assuming we're about to sign a standard contract, but I was wondering whether we're quite within our rights to insist on adding clauses about date of completion, and fixing site and footings costs. I think with a custom you could change the terms fairly easily but my experience is that project builders are not very keen on changing their terms (especially with the new home building grant increasing business) After 4 years - we're in! I would think that if you asked five project builders for reasonable contract conditions, at least one would say OK.
