Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Sewer access close to house 2Mar 02, 2023 11:01 am Amacy Hi All, I'm after some ideas on how I should best approach a situation on the house I'm currently building. The house siting has moved several times due to the proximity to the sewer access. Now the slab, frame and windows are in place we can see the sewer access sits a decent amount higher than the house and it's quite close. I can't see how the landscaping will work with the plan we've been given. Our builders provided landscaping plan shows there is meant to be just grass in the area between the sewer and the house but I can't see how that would work. If the soil level was brought up to the sewer level, it would be higher than the front windows. In order to avoid this, there would have to be a steep drop towards the corner of the house. Apart from the aesthetics, there is also the concern that a steep drop would cause an issue with rain water run off. I was thinking a retaining wall might be an option. I've written to the builder to see what options we may have. Has anyone got any thoughts on this, am I incorrect or are there some options to make this area work better than a sheer drop off towards the house? when you finish your landscaping (levels and all), just cut it down and cap it with something that still provides access. The pipe doesnt need to remain tall, just needs to be accessible (ie not buried). Thanks for clarifying.
