It has been a long slog and rather soul crushing experience so far, We finally got to a contract (pretty standard HIA) which we duly signed in Oct 2022. Temporary fencing is now at the site (at end of Jan 2023) but nothing else, and still no start date confirmed. Is this normal? We are using a small builder who is local to the South Coast and he's super busy. We are very happy so far with everything apart from the exorbitant cost of materials. Our build has been very seamless and I'm thinking it's because he's local, has good working relationships with suppliers and a reliable team of labourers and apprentices. There are many reasons that jobs don't start immediately and the Xmas/New Year lag is an issue for many. Good luck. I have nothing but praise for our builder...but I'd never, ever build again.
