Hi,
For residential builds, could you please share how much you had in your steel quoting allowance versus the actual steel in metres installed?
For instance:
Structural steel allowance $10k - 20m of steel installed

The same can be said for Pricing concrete at $100- 200/m2..its sold at $250/ m3 (2.4tonne) Material Retail Make sure you check the engineering drawings 20lm isn't much steel, it barely covers the front elevation Cheers Chris Designer,Engineer (Civil,Const & Envir),Builder,Concrete & Masonry Contract.Struct Repairs Re: structural steel - quoting allowance vs reality - 2stori 4Oct 08, 2022 10:32 am Here is why Engineering Bim is the gold standard in Home Design Structural Bim + data 1. 3D models are all inclusive ( no need to decipher complicated 2D engineering drawing ) 2. Clients can understand exactly where components fit. Images/plans are static (unresponsive while Software bim models are Dynamically responsive to queries ,changes->checking, calculations, web based prices, etc) 3.Unlike Architectural Bim engineering Bim is certified (No more unforeseen cost blowouts because the artist didn't know what they was designing) 4. Engineering Bim models can be used on site during inspections to cross check build data and costs ( No more rocking up on site and not knowing what you paid for and whether you've been r!pped... 5.Designing, engineering through to Building should be a team effort were successive participants have your back ( it's not an excuse to further rip off battlers because the idiot before didn't know what they were doing, was in a hurry, didn't care, couldn't understand the engineering plans, etc) 6.The process starts with informed owners telling participants what they want. 7. Once you sign the building contract.. it's too late to change plans due to copyright, optimise designs, query data and costs, etc..goodluck Cheers Chris Designer,Engineer (Civil,Const & Envir),Builder,Concrete & Masonry Contract.Struct Repairs Re: structural steel - quoting allowance vs reality - 2stori 5Jan 24, 2023 9:52 am hebelorbricks Hi, For residential builds, could you please share how much you had in your steel quoting allowance versus the actual steel in metres installed? For instance: Structural steel allowance $10k - 20m of steel installed Hi hebelorbricks As a general guideline, it is common for residential builds to have a steel allowance of around 10-15% of the total construction cost. However, the actual amount of steel installed can vary greatly depending on the specific design and requirements of the project. It's always best to consult with a quantity surveyor and get multiple quotes from steel suppliers to ensure you are getting the best value for your project. Regards, John Get sound legal advice.
