Retaining wall cost

Hi all,

Happy new year to you all.

Two questions I need help with:

1. What is the price of a retaining wall per sqm in Sydney in 2022/2023 that people have paid/been quoted?

2. How do you calculate the area? Is it >>>>> (Height of Retaining wall) x (Length of Retaining wall)

So, for example, if my retaining wall is 20m long and 600mm high, the area is = 20 *0.6 = 12 sqm?

I have had quotes come back in between $500 - $550 a meter at 25meters long & 600mm high for concrete sleepers.

Haven’t gone ahead with any as they seem a little steep and don’t need a retaining wall yet.

But if you’re handy you can probably do it yourself (I believe anything over 600mm in height requires council approval and engineering drawings). I had a quote from a landscaping supplies store that came out to just under $4k with delivery.

So the landscaping company quoted you 4000 for 25 x 600mm = 15sqm?

Yes - for materials only
I had to work out how many sleepers would be required and select the posts I would need.

Not sure about Sydney, but in Canberra we recently got a Sandstone retaining wall done at $265 / sqm including everything.

For a retaining wall of rocks you will also need to include the width . In our case the height was 1.1 m + 0,3 m width into total length.

Yeah ours done in Canberra was $240/sqm back a few months ago, but they apparently have gone up over $350/sqm now.

And yeah if using stone etc they add in the capping they use also.

Who did you use Suku? seems to be a few doing work in Taylor.
