Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Oct 26, 2008 7:22 pm Hi all
Im in the prosess of doing an approx costing of building a new 30 sq. home with a project builder. I have found sales staff to be lacking in info & expiriance. I know site costs can be hard to estimate but I would like to get an idea from you people who have been there done that.. My land is 2000 m2, essment at back, power in frount. H class soil. Flat as can be. To my knowledge there is no major rock. I have allowed for the extra run of sewer, water, power, waist water. H Class slab. What ellse am I in for. The builder seems to want to get me to put $1000 to start the process & if the quote is to much I can walk away with $150 refund. The project builder is N. *. *. I have heard of people site cost getting out of control and I would like to avoid this if possible. Also Im told it is a fixed price contract, what if building cost go up in the build time do I have to pay extra. Thanks any help appriciated. Re: Site & other after costs. 4Oct 27, 2008 1:54 pm Our site costs were massive with the same builder (we are at bricking stage and pretty happy). We also got a quote off Metricon who were slightly cheaper but not enough to change our decision. My advice if you are going to go with them and your sales person seems inexperienced - change your sales person now. It is something that we never did but if we had it would have been a far more informed starting time. We got a lot of wrong answers or you can do that later. It turned out with some stuff we couldn't do it later. Drive to another display village till you find someone who knows what they are talking about. It will save you money and also knowledge. Fi has moved in!! We were lucky in that our old house was so small (86 square metres) compared to the new house, they were able to take enough readings around the old backyard house before… 8 24876 I am not sure whether Perth has its own way of doing things in regards to this. Most of Perth has class A (sandy soil), except for some areas near rivers or hills. 2 8280 Is anyone building with Mojo and have a recent site cost tender 0 12272 |
