Its hard to pin a tradie down on and off the job sometimes .......... they are just so flat out with all that subcontracting. I suppose they get casual rates being a subby and its hard going full time when you get all those rates.
I think its great that you would like to show your appreciation for the work that they do. I always appreciated it when the boss put on a "cut out". In fact I and many others would think of him/her as a stingy so and so if we did not get at least a few bottles. However, please consider the following: dont think just because you shout a few bottles or a cup of coffee you will get better treatment. The subs are there for a week at max & may never see you again. Also dont insult them with stale plain lable biscuts & a cold cup of coffee. If you are going to show them respect then do it proply and make a big fellow of yorself. A box of beer for the boys is fine & it does not have to be cold. You dont want them drinking on the job or on the way home.
If your have a good repor with them all and its a friday (the best day to drop some thing off) & you are happy with the job why not a BBQ & a 6 pack each. This will blow them away.
Dont expect too much in return, most "work to the bomb" and a few goodies wont get you too much more. However Im sure they will appreciate it & respect you more. They may even fix a few things up for you.
Cheers

I remember asking the carpenters what they like to drink - beer, wine or spirits. And they were like "Oh no, really you don't have to....... But if you do, we drink whiskey."
