Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Nov 30, 2022 11:26 am Hi all, The brick work of my garage went up a day and a half ago. The builder suggested to use off-white cement with off-white sand to get a whiter color than with GP cement. I drive pass my build today and notice the mortar is rater yellowish/greenish. I couldn't take photos as the carpenters were working and didn't want to interfere. I contacted my builder and asked about this. He says the color will change in a few days and it will further change after the acid wash. I just wonder if this is true. Any feedback would be highly appreciated. Best to check the site for evidence of the sand. SHould be some left on the ground. You can check after hours. My guess it will be yellow sand. I will go to site tomorrow to check what is going on. Builder said he ordered off-white sand and off-white cement. I hope it is just because it is still wet. From far, it looks white, but as soon as you get close to the house it is a different story. Thanks for that. I think the mortar has been sitting on these surfaces for approx a year.
