When does a HIA contract actually start?

Hi All,

Our building contract has no actual start date, but does have an allowance for the number of 'build days'. After that, the builder, supposedly starts paying us an allowance each week.

My question is, when does the 'build days' allowance actually kick off?

My builder says its when they've broken ground / poured the slab?

I'm of the understanding that its 21 days after the building permit is issued?

Any ideas?
Cheers
In our contract there's contract date, building period (which seems to be what you're referring to as the number of days), anticipated start date (the number of days from the contract date).

The builder gave us a 'site start notice' which references 'drainage installation date' as the starting point, and that date + the number of days from contract as practical completion date. So would be just before they pour the slab in our case.

Sorry but you have a crap builder. Probably too late now. For our last build I only spoke to builders who would allow me easy access (at no cost). I used my own sparky…
