Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Oct 30, 2022 7:55 pm Hi all, So I noticed that one brick next to the master bedroom window has a chip in the corner of the brick. I showed my SS and his response was that if we had the brick removed and replaced then chances are that more than likely the mortar colour won't match and it'll look worse. The chip is pretty minor. What would you do? Would you ask to have the brick replaced or would you leave it? If you have been left with spare bricks, then drill a hole into a spare brick, mix the brick dust with an epoxy putty such as Selleys Knead It and then press and shape the putty into the chip using a putty knife. Thanks, yes I have kept the bricks. I'm not a handyman by any stretch of the imagination, lol. But if that's a way to fix the brick then I'll just leave it and get someone to do that. Might even ask the builder to fix it using that method. Re: Chip in brick 4Nov 01, 2022 4:00 pm you'll have many of those during the coming years. it comes with the house being something you use daily, as opposed to a show piece that people just look at if it really bothers you, i'd just get some paint that matches the color of the brick face and apply it to that spot so it's not as visible (or ask your SS if they can do that) 2 8384 I should have followed up on this thread. So, the pier foundation wasn't large enough on the side it was leaning towards, and the NBN cable went through the pier, just… 8 12156 Just be careful with building stability during construction, that is when the structure may be weakened, refer to your engineering drawings for stability methodology. 1 7265 |
