Retaining walls are best put in before you build, If for whatever reason you aren't happy with what the builder is putting in, or leaving out, charging ,etc. Then the time to sort it out is before you go to Council for DA approval, don't sign variations after BA and don't get suckered in with the builder dumping retaining onto you after handover, at which point that then creates a multitude of issues/problems, the same applies with stormwater, etc. OT. I'm seeing quite a bit of this, where builders alter the original contract by variations only to dump future problems onto unsuspecting homeowners after they have cleared off site. Hey thanks for the reply. Yeah, the retaining wall will be build after cutting the land if needed. If they figure it is not needed, then they'll go ahead with the construction. Otherwise, they'll put the wall before poring the slab. Re: Retaining Walls? 4Oct 01, 2022 10:44 am ![]() Yeah, the retaining wall will be build after cutting the land if needed. If you have a difficult block, it is best to deal with Contours, Slopes, Retaining, geotect, engineering before you select to go with 1 builder alone, otherwise there is no 3 builders quotes and sharpen your quoting pencil after. I guess if they aren't big walls its not as big of a concern, but we ended up with over 120m2 of walls around the place and was a bit of a long journey that would of been nicer to have exact costings already known etc. Talk to your local council/building certifier regarding certification requirements for retaining walls even if you are retaining small heights. Very messy job… 1 14579 We used pro clima walls and roof. It's a high quality product (good vapour permeability and water resistance) and can withstand UV for a long period of time.
