Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Aug 10, 2022 1:06 pm Hi all, As the title of the thread suggests, I'm a clueless first time home builder looking for some friendly advice and pointers on how best to build my dream home. I've purchased a beautiful, elevated parcel of land (25 acres). The land is on a hillside and there is a consistent 4m fall. We're on the lower side of the street so the the front of the house will be on the high side and the rear on the low side. We are looking at a split level home from Montgomery Homes. Given the fall we'll likely needs piers / bearers and joists for the front half of the house (single story) and am hopeful we can have a slab with an integrated retaining wall for the back half (double story). Everything I know so far has been picked up via Google and chatting to Montgomery Homes however I'm conscious that what I don't know I don't know is massive. If anyone can provide any advice, tips, things to consider, ask or look out for when it comes to building on a slopped site. If there's any additional advice on what to expect from a landscaping perspective post build that would also be incredible. All advice greatly appreciated. That's impossible to answer. Landscaping can cost anywhere from a couple hundred dollars to a couple hundred thousand dollars. It all depends on what you want to do.
