David Shorten, Metricon’s NSW state sales manager, informed staff at the Monday morning meeting that numbers would be cut to just 18, from roughly 60 currently, with redundancy payouts offered to those unable to be redeployed. About 15 trainee sales consultants have also been terminated with no offer of redeployment." ... "The Sydney employee said “events have snowballed” since Mr Biasin’s death, adding he was sceptical the company could survive. “We still don’t have homeowners’ warranty insurance,” he said. “We have not been taking deposits for the last 10 weeks. Its a good decision in my opinion with the interest rates goes up building starts will plummet. Every builder should be cutting sales right now.... Re: Metricon sacks majority of NSW sales staff 6Aug 03, 2022 1:08 pm Focussing on construction quality and timely delivery will be a new challenge for Metricon, whose business until now has largely been based on glossy marketing and deceptive cost cutting rather than quality building. I don't think their operations team is adequately skilled or resourced for such a different approach. I suspect their back of house ops will just continue their cheap, sloppy and cynical "business as usual" ways with customers.
