Provide reasons for your question ie the slab experience and your recent observations. Re: Builder invoicing a progress payment for incomplete work 7May 31, 2022 5:59 pm Noname you can ask the builder why they feel that this work is "complete" when there are clearly significant portions of it yet to be completed. As to th ebank, you dont really have to tell them anything. Just submit the invoices. Its up to them to do tehir due diligence Unfortunately, its a volume builder - so there isn't a single person to answer all your questions. You get handed over from your project co-ordinator to site supervisor once your build commences, the site supervisor claims he doesn't issue the invoices, accounts receivable refer me back to the site supervisor. Its on me for building with a volume builder. As for the bank, they've already been problematic on the first payment where they refused to pay because they didn't like the format of the invoice. It took 3 weeks, and between my broker and builder's accounts receivable, they finally came to arrangement with the bank. In the end the bank apologised for 'someone in training' ... ridiculous. And many of them only get paid when a stage is complete Funny you should mention that.. the builders insisting on stage progress payments from the clients even when the work is incomplete, materials part supplied, work is defective, non-compliant, etc, etc Yet, the trades aren't paid and move onto other projects that aren't delayed... I'd be asking this question of the builder " where's my money going...? They rely on you knowing little to nothing about the process. Exactly. That is the bit that I find disrespectful. He could just be straight with me and explain what is left to do, and why he is seeking the invoice now. I'm actually more likely to accept his explanation and work with him to ensure payments are made. At the same time, I've got no doubt that he's under pressure from head office to speed things up and put the thumb on his subs. With the brick work, though, it's somewhat out of his control as its been raining a lot on and off & causing delays. I sometimes wonder if part of it might be - he sees me as someone in their 50s that won't know what is going on.
