I'm not sure of your design but it's likely that it's on the garage wall and that's what the builder assumed. If it's vastly different then you'll need to work something out. Having a discussion with the Sparkie early next week. Builder doesn’t know if the box can be put behind a lockable gate. Adventure continues The meter box needs to be put in an accessible location so Energex or there contractors can have unrestricted access if they need to. I wouldn't recommend installing this behind the lockable gate. Re: Electrical Meter Box on plans for builder 11Jun 04, 2022 8:30 am KangarooBuilder Must every plan made by a builder have to include location for the electrical meter box? My builder is making a big deal that the meter box wasn’t marked on the construction plan and introducing a delay. Are there construction plans out there that don’t have the meter box exactly marked? The location of meter box should be carefully considered and it should be shown on drawings(that is what the designer is paid for). In my pre contract reviews I always check plans to make sure meter box is not within close proximity of head of person sleeping. The smart meters are made in China and no one knows the effect of EMR and the intensity they produce. In my book it is best avoided to make sure meter boxes are away from bedrooms.
