Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Oct 22, 2008 10:27 am Hi,
We will be building in Hillside soon and require an acoustic report and town planning. Has anyone that falls under Melton Shire Council had to do this. What were the fees like and how fast were their turnarounds with permits? Any advice? Thanks in advance. Re: Melton Shire Council 2Oct 22, 2008 10:31 am We are building in Burnside Heights which falls under Melton Council, we didn't need to do that unless our builder did it for us, but there was never any mention of it, the only thing we had to get ourselves was an Asset Protection Permit. Re: Melton Shire Council 3Oct 22, 2008 10:35 am Hi,
It is in our Section 32 so will need to be done. How much was the asset protection? Did you get it back? Ta Re: Melton Shire Council 5Oct 22, 2008 11:31 am Ok thanks for your responses.
Hoepfully some other people can elaborate on the accoustic report and town planning queries. Re: Melton Shire Council 6Oct 22, 2008 6:49 pm Hey Arch,
We're building in Hillside and yes you do need the acoustic report. As we're building in a stockland development, stockland also required us to get a developed approval. So what we did was to send in the final drawings etc to Stockland. Stockland approved the lot and gave us the Developer approval along with the acoustic report. All we had to do next was to download the planning permit form from the melton shire council site, fill in as required and attach the acosutic reprot provided by stockland along with the Developer approval and required documents as listed on the planning permit form. We submitted the form along with payment and got the planning permit in 4 weeks (it can apparently take anything from 2-6 weeks, depending on the volume of applications at that time). We then submitted the planning permit, developer approval to the builder who then proceeded with obtaining the building permit. Hope this answers your question ! We are building in an established area. What were the costs for the planning permits if you dont mind? Thanks again for your assistance and good luck with your building. On a side note what were your sites costs? Do you have much rock? Looks like we will have a fair bit of rock and will hopefully go with a waffle pod not too sure what our site costs will be... Cheers Re: Melton Shire Council 8Oct 23, 2008 8:00 am Arch,
I honestly can't rmember how much we paid. The fee would depend on the cost of your dwelling etc and it is something that council would advise you on. Please contact them! Stockland refunded the amount paid for the planning permit so it essentially cost us nothing. It would also be worthwhile to check whether you need a planning permit to begin with as epople building 4 lots away from us, didn't require one as they weren't directly over the flight overlay...so your lot may very well not need it. Call council as they would be able to tell you if you give them your lot/house number and street name. If you do need to lodge an application, you get get more info here: http://www.melton.vic.gov.au/Page/Page. ... 39&h=1&p=1 Also in regard to rock, we're going with the waffle pod...most do in the area.
