Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Oct 21, 2008 7:49 pm Hi, just wondered if anyone had been able to get a permit to move a Telstra pole and how much it cost? We are considering changing our crossover to the other boundary but there is a Telstra pole in the way that would need to be moved a couple of metres. Have rang telstra but got the runaround for an hour before i gave up. Re: moving telstra pole to build new crossover 3Oct 21, 2008 8:46 pm You know, we were in a similar position as our new drive is on the opposite side to the garage. Out the front we've got a telstra pit and a tree (quite big).
So we just decided to get a sweeping drive across the front instead! I just knew it would cost loads and wouldn't be easy to do so we called it quits... could you do something similar? how far is your set back? Just notify them and they will give you a document that spells out your responsibilities (if it gets damaged, you are liable etc). anthea and a tree (quite big)....So we just decided to get a sweeping drive across the front instead! Anthea Ouch! If it grows, chop it down....otherwise get used to reversing around the 'esses' several times a day. IMHO driveways and crossovers should be straight. Geoff - Decophile. A telstra POLE, would be a bit hard having that in the middle of your driveway Re: moving telstra pole to build new crossover 6Oct 22, 2008 7:07 am Hi Jspitz
We had an electricity pole and a telstra pit moved. You would think that the electricity pole would be the most expensive, but no, it was the telstra pit. Ours was an old one with asbestos so they won't build crossovers over them. Telstra should be able to do it but based on the cost for the new pit, I think a pole may be getting really expensive. The electricity company was great and shared the cost, they base the quote on the age of the pole and when it was going to be replaced. Not sure if Telstra has a similar system. They seem to be happy for others to wear the full cost.
