Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Oct 21, 2008 2:45 pm So in the final stages of building our house with $imonds (if i can find a host program that isnt block by my work i will upload some photos!), we have quite a few bricks left along with outside tiles etc.
Now ive been told by someone i know who built with PD l should remove all extra supplies we want to use down the track, otherwise the builder will before we settle, but its a big job, really why move it if all your going to be doing is moving it back again! Was wondering if anyone knew the standard process for left over supplies, do the builders take them or do they leave them? If we were to move them into our garage would that make a different? l'd rather get other ppl experience before asking the builder if they say they take them and then move some well bit suss!! Any help would be GREAT Re: Left over supplies 2Oct 21, 2008 2:52 pm The builder took all our left over bricks - we were planning to use them after handover for a few projects, now we will have to buy bricks. If you need to use them you better off taking them and keeping them somewhere otherwise they will be removed by the builder. braveheart Re: Left over supplies 4Oct 21, 2008 4:12 pm We gathered up all the left over bricks, which were in partial pallets all over the block and stacked them into a single pile in the back corner of our block, next to our lemon tree. Builders were happy with this, as they were going to just chuck them out, and so it saved them some work... I guess God didn't use subbies... Re: Left over supplies 6Oct 21, 2008 7:19 pm We have got about 2 pallets of new bricks left over and 2 of chipped bricks left over so the brickies told us to put them in our shed if we want them because otherwise they will be removed...it was a big job moving them all,but definetely worth it

They will most likely throw them out so you only need to ask and 9 times out of 10 they will say take them. I have seen some supervisors take back some leftovers from the client and threw them out all because they didn't ask. He said if they asked him they could have taken anything but when they decided just to take it without asking then that becomes stealing so its all about the principal. Re: Left over supplies 9Oct 21, 2008 8:06 pm Just to clarify...we had already asked our SS about the bricks and he had no worries about us having them...it,s just that if we left them where they were they would automatically be taken away when it came to clean up
That,s why the brickies told us to put them in our shed. He was more than happy to do it, in fact we did not have wall tiles left over, so he ordered us an extra box Shhhh though Re: Left over supplies 12Oct 21, 2008 10:10 pm You don't have to take them away, what we did is just hide them at the back... with the wildly growing bushes/weeds, no one can see it any way... Re: Left over supplies 13Oct 22, 2008 7:40 am In our builders general information sheet they state that they will leave 3 - 4 roof tiles, a similar amount of floor / wet area tiles and a maximum of 100 bricks for us. I hope to nab a few extra bricks for our letterbox though. Re: Left over supplies 14Oct 22, 2008 8:01 am The most important thing is in case you need a few more bricks/tiles/roof tiles, even though most of the times you "should" still able to get some at a small cost, they might be from different batch and could in slightly different colour/quality... It's better to get things from the same batch, so it matches the others. Re: Left over supplies 15Oct 22, 2008 9:00 am l decided to ring out SS and he was really good bout it, said he will mark a spot with a spray can where we can leave the bricks and as along as move it to that spot we can keep as many as we want! so bonus! l dont know if we will move both buddles but will move at least one of them!!!
So it does pay to ask your SS what you can do with it Re: Left over supplies 16Oct 22, 2008 6:01 pm we had surplus bricks and were told to put it to the back otherwise it might be taken away. We couldnt be bothered taking it to the back yard, we stacked about 1 and a half pallet of bricks together and left a sign for the contractor not to take. I think the contractor take it away to sell. you need a fridgie to answer but I would think you vac the whole system then add gas if you have a leak, unless it is new install with the gas already loaded, in that case… 1 3663 Old Home Restoration / Renovation Hi, just discovered all these junks left behind under the floor. Could any of these be asbestos? Best to leave as it is or clean up? Thank you for your thoughts 0 8070 Hi everyone, Looking for some advise.
