Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Mar 23, 2022 10:31 am Hello, long time larker of these forums. I am building in Illawarra, NSW area. Our land registered in December and our neighbours house shot up super quick, they are basically done and up to putting in a fence. Their builder as got my details from the developer and sent us an invoice for the following; 13.8 x18m 8x pine sleepers Gate Total they want to charge all up is $1200 My question is, Is it normal to go halves on the neighbours gate or is the builder hoping we don’t pick up on this? Thank you Re: Paying for neighbours gate? 3Mar 23, 2022 10:55 am They're hoping you just pay. I organised all my fencing and the contractor didn't even ask if I wanted it billed together, he simply gave me three invoices, one for each boundary fence and one for my internal fences and gates. My neighbours certainly didn't contribute towards my gates, nor should they. You should pay for half of the boundary fence and nothing else. And if they didn't issue a proper fencing notice or whatever the NSW equivalent is odds are you can just ignore them and pay nothing, though the rules are different in every state. Re: Paying for neighbours gate? 4Mar 23, 2022 11:22 am just half the fence. don't be a dic about waiting ofr fencing notices if you're in contact with the neighbor/fencer. Just point out to them your e on liable for 1/2 the boundary fence, not the gate. You'll be reissued an accurate invoice. Dark matter scientist, can breathe underwater, mind reader and can freeze matter just by willing it. Trust me, its in my sig. Thank you https://www.lawaccess.nsw.gov.au/Pages/ ... ences.aspx simply put. like in Victoria, Anyone wanting to errect a fence with a neighbouring property will supply a fencing order and quotes to you. Anything above a standard fence, unless you agree will be paid for by the one wanting it. Pay half each of standard fence on a quote you both agree on. Any extras are paid for by party who want them, ie 2.1m fence extra $10 a L/M cost covered by other not sure what the sleepers are for and there should not be gate access to your property from neighbours hope this helps Re: Paying for neighbours gate? 6May 27, 2022 11:59 am Jake_ Hello, long time larker of these forums.
