Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Dec 18, 2021 9:22 am I got an email from builder about list of items for rectification. and one is "Complete the installation of the driveway to the building. Ensure compliance with the complying development stamped approved site plan and associated stormwater design (grated drain installation)." Do I need to get any documents from driveway installer for this driveway is complying with approved site plan? or just leave it and the Principal Certifier will look at the driveway? Thank you. Re: Do I need to get a certificate for driveway for OC? 3Dec 18, 2021 11:18 am If you are lucky, the certifier will do a drive-by, not even sure they checked the driveway stages, but that was a year later too. Imho, it's best not to have the driveway done before moving in to prevent removalist trucks cracking/chipping the driveway. As far as inspections it's a joke, I had to move in with 'no' running water (therefore no flushing toilets), no kitchen cabinets....the list goes on, 'but' the building inspector did a walk-through to issue an interimOC and check out the floor plan because he was building shortly and wanted to check the layout. It's not fun having to bucket water from a single outdoor tap to flush toilets, have a 'shower', use the washing machine then wash dishes in a bucket in the backyard. He shoulda gone to Specsavers.... Re: Do I need to get a certificate for driveway for OC? 5Feb 28, 2022 3:38 am Ali Akber Same question from me, I am too building a new house and want to know at what stage should I hired a drive way constructor? Hi Ali You want to time your driveway concreter at a point in your program when you can live without accessing your house a for a few days. Your plan is fine, but as I was saying the other day, just be aware that when you go over a 20% gradient, some insurers wont cover you if a visitor trips or falls. It practice though it's fine. Most certifiers in NSW wont give you a final OC ( and some wont give you an interim OC) without your driveway and landscaping in. I feel this has a been a change over the last 3-4 years. Before that they would.
