Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Mar 02, 2022 6:36 pm Hey all - our bathroom tiles are going in. There’s a couple things I’m feeling aren’t quite right. Before I freak out and want to sell the house, I thought I’d check if I’m being silly or not. The first pics are of the tiles surrounding the entrance to the toilet. You can see down low, that there’s clear door frame sitting out from the tiles but at the top, the tiles sit out further from the door frame. The same has not happened on the opposite side. The tile in the corner doesn’t seem set straight. And given it will be caulked along the top, I’m expecting it will really stand out. Thoughts? Tilers have to plumb up there tiles when they are laying like that due to the return tiled wall. The exposed edge on the return near the door is not good and should have a tile trim to cover exposed edges of tiles. Just need to put a level on the tiles beside the door and if the tiles are level the issue is the frame carpenter which seems to be more common than you think. Just speak to your supervisor to look and rectify the issue as its their job to check each trades works are done to a satisfactory level. The second series of pics is fine and when completed and ainted will not be noticable. Its caused by the plastering in the internal corners again pretty common but if will be minimal when finished, nothing in building is perfect thats why the code has tolerances. Re: Bathroom tiles - good or not? 3Mar 02, 2022 9:34 pm Thanks Splashers. I’ll stop freaking out then! The tilers aren’t finished yet so the exposed edges still need to be sorted. So assuming the tiles are plumb, does it become a 2nd fix carpenter problem and they come back and do something with the door frame? Thanks so much for your response! I am pretty confident your walls are way out of alignment. They should never have laid the tiles with the walls so far out. Once tiles installed there will be no way of rectifying it without removing and retiling the areas. The tile trim on edges is set in when tiling as its glued in with tiles. Personally by the looks it will be left as a raw edge of the tiles exposed Re: Bathroom tiles - good or not? 6Mar 03, 2022 7:32 pm Okay thanks so much. I better have a chat with the site supervisor sooner rather than later. All part of the fun! Thanks again 9 26412 Thank you. Do I use timber floorboards for stairs or do people use timber treads?
