Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jan 06, 2022 8:23 pm Hi all, Has anyone managed to build with a commercial builder and managed to go all electric? Apparently there is backwards legislation in Victoria that forces you to have an GAS HWS if a gas supply is available… Anyone had any luck? I really want a solar electric boosted HWS on my home. Re: VICTORIA - All electric house 3Jan 06, 2022 9:28 pm I think someone might be telling you a story. In my existing home we did have a gas service but we had it removed two years ago without any legal issues. In fact the Victorian Energy Ombudsman (https://www.ewov.com.au/) helped me get the meter removed quickly (within 24 hours) when the gas retailer was delaying removing the meter but trying to keep charging the monthly fee. I would be making a call to the Ombudsman at the above link to see what they say! The Harder You Try - the Luckier You Get ! I’m currently building in Melbourne a very efficient 8 star home and trying to install a heat pump instead of a solar gas boosted unit. If I do plan on getting a Pv system but after hand over is it still possible? Do I need an energy assessor to complete a performance solution to get this past? Appreciate any help I can get. Re: VICTORIA - All electric house 7Aug 08, 2022 10:57 pm sifntdaz all electric build completed late last year in victoria. gas was historically on the property but that got abolished before build commenced. no issues experienced going down this path. Did your BS need a performance solution to pass your build and do you have a PV system installed during construction? Hi everyone!
