Doing a KDR and trying to start the construction as soon as possible but run into the problem of Gas abolishment. AGL told me it takes up to 20 working days from the date the house is vacated. That's a long time to wait! Real estate agent won't open till 10 Jan, and by the time I find a suitable rental and moved out, it could be the end of January, adding another month waiting time for Gas abolishment means construction can't start till March! Can I request the Gas abolishment to be done before a demolition date, for example 31 Jan, regardless when the property is vacated? Does it affect Jemena's abolishment work if I'm still living in the house? Can the 20 working day start from the day I call them instead of the day the house is vacant? Thanks!!! They'll only allow you to submit an abolishment once you confirm that the property is vacant. I generally order my gas abolishments before the property is vacant to win some time. I find that they usually take 1-2 weeks from when the request is submitted, so keep this in mind. There will be some back log because of the holiday perioId. I definitely wouldnt recommend ordering the abolishment if you think you could still be living there, because if they rock up and find that the property is occupied this could delay you.
