Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Dec 12, 2021 9:25 pm Hi everyone, hoping I can get some advice on a minor hiccup. I'm building a new home atm with Masonry Sandstone Blocks and so far they look amazing (about 80% finished). One thing my partner and I noticed though is there's a mis-shaped block which is a few mm shorter than the others they've laid, which results in the block above casting a shadow on the mortar and making it stand out. Now obviously to the eyes of most it wouldn't be a a big issue, but as we all know when it's your own home and see it every day (especially on the facade walking to the front door), it is something you want to have fixed. My worry is if they do replace the block, the mortar won't match and it will stand out even more. Is this an easy fix in your opinion? Should I be worries about making it worse? Am I putting a lot of trust in the bricklayers skill to replace it with out it looking worse? Is it hard to match the mortar? Just figuring out how I should approach this and what others would do/think. Thanks everyone in advance Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Replacing individual block/brick on facade? Opinions ple 3Dec 13, 2021 9:56 pm I don't know a thing about replacing individual bricks, but it does stand out visibly, even when viewing the first photo on phone screen without zoom. The bricks in 1st and 3rd rows from the bottom seem to also stand out, but not as bad. 2 8366 Thank you @. Tried to play with the facade models but the exact colour is not matching up. 2 3275 Yes, get a builder, make sure he is experienced and a registered building practitioner 5 8978 |
