Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Oct 29, 2021 1:40 pm Hi, I wanted to see if anyone in the forum is currently building a home? My builder put the slab down and advised there is a 8 weeks delay in frames delivery. Is anyone else in a similar situation? Should I expect for further delays with other materials as well? Appreciate any insights!! Thanks Re: Currently building ?? 3Oct 29, 2021 7:07 pm I am in the tender process still for my current build, but we have 5 houses being built down my street where we are currently living. 1 started just after xmas and has just gotten to lock up I think (hard to see as its behind another house). The one next to us had slab laid in April and they're still working on the colour bond roof. The one next to it had their slab laid a month ago and bricks only just delivered and the other 2 have had zero works started. Unfortunately there's a demand in supplies and it's a slow process now Re: Currently building ?? 4Nov 02, 2021 7:39 am Contaksujeet Hi, I wanted to see if anyone in the forum is currently building a home? As others have been saying there is a massive delay in supplies at the moment, but being glass half full, at least your slab gets to cure for 2 months! Good luck with the build and keep us all updated. Re: Currently building ?? 5Nov 04, 2021 9:29 pm I know 2 builds in Adelaide that started in February and finished in September. Smaller custom builder. Not sure about larger builders here or if the delays are only in the second half of this year. Re: Currently building ?? 7Nov 08, 2021 8:48 am Tracyj323 I'm in WA and my slab went down 2 weeks ago and was advised by my builder there is a 6+ month wait for bricklayers... Very slow progress indeed. WOW!! that sucks.. I hope it wont take that long.. Re: Currently building ?? 9Dec 07, 2021 5:50 pm Tracyj323 I'm in WA and my slab went down 2 weeks ago and was advised by my builder there is a 6+ month wait for bricklayers... Very slow progress indeed. May I ask if that's due to special bricks in the order that takes time for production? Hope it's not the general issue with a shortage of laborers/materials. I've just had the Slab done two weeks ago and it turns out to me that prefab orders are a bit tricky for owner-builder. I build a double-story house with brick veneer for the ground level. So I need timber frames and bricklayers too. LT Hey guys building a new place through a volume builder and just wondering if i should complain to the site supervisor as we just had plasterboard installed. Looks like… 0 11828 Elvis has left the building... The site supervisor quit after 2 month on the project. I guess he was just instructed to bark at people, but didn't like when he was… 26 21618 |
