Once Tile is completed it will be 50mm higher than the slab due to bedding for tiles. Once laminated floor is completed it will be 12mm higher than the slab. This will make the bathroom floor 38mm higher than the main floor. I am concern with the height difference and I see this is a safely concern.(very likely to stumble as pictured) Ideally the wet area should have been 40-50mm lower when the slab was made to compensate the bedding for tiles. I want the difference as less as possible (not more than 10mm) What is acceptable height in building standard? Can I hold my builder responsible to fix it? What are my options? Please help , many thanks. Mohh. Re: Bathroom floor much higher than main floor 4Dec 02, 2021 8:04 am Mohh Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Please help! Building a new home in NSW. If it was on the drawings and or in the contract specification schedule then yes you can hold your builder accountable. The only way to really fix it now would be to screed the rest of your floor where the laminate is going. Allow $40/sqm for that. Problem is you will lose some ceiling height. Otherwise you are pulling your slab up and starting from scratch. Best to have it properly inspected and possibly recertified. We also have a level difference between bathroom floors and the adjacent area, but the way they managed the transition is to make a slope with the tile over it.
