I've just had my building permit released and possible site start in Jan/Feb. But judging by this thread my house will never get built and I'll pay thousands more... Let's see what happens... Look at the fiasco in Sydney with the apartment crisis, I know of at least 2 projects in Perth where there has had to be major rectification works because of failed engineering, 1 that unsafe that building works had to be stopped altogether Don't come back at me with society doesnt trust builders, I know that, I don't have my head buried in the sand like you You have basically called me a liar in this thread comment on Bricklaying rates something I deal with everyday but you as an Engineer obviously know more than me on it. From speaking to some Builder on the ground in Melbourne, they have done a flat markup up across all cost centres in some cases of 7% - 12%. Small builders don't have the luxury of being as precise and are simply not entering fixed price contracts until they get an indication that the prices will stabilise.
