Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Oct 07, 2015 4:13 pm Hi everyone, We're currently building with Dale Alcock, and went into the experience positively, but since we signed up, it's been nothing but problems. I'm just wondering how everyone else is feeling about a Dale Alcock build? I'm hoping it gets better, but so far no luck. I've seen mixed reviews on forums here. To be fair, our Liaison and Consultant have been good, and I know these hurdles aren't their 'fault' but I feel there's been no excitement or customer service since they got our money. I hear what other builders offer - vouchers, information sessions, even an interior designer, and we've had nothing. It's not about the vouchers, I think we're just feeling 'used and abused' Re: Building with Dale Alcock...regrets already 3Nov 04, 2015 12:52 pm @jpmontoya I'm sad to say I'm still disappointed, our walls look thrown together and there's giant gaps between the slab and the bricks on the floor now! Re: Building with Dale Alcock...regrets already 4Nov 04, 2015 7:45 pm maybe you should get an independent building inspector in to look it over. Your supervisor will have so many jobs on you'll be lucky if he spends 20 minutes a week at your build so the trades run amok. There'll be plenty of empty words and hollow promises but in the end they, more often than not, fail to deliver. Re: Building with Dale Alcock...the saga continues 9Feb 21, 2016 11:33 pm Update - boundary wall issues, wrong front door, tiling doesn't even line up, the issues go on....Wish we'd gone with an independent builder. Re: Building with Dale Alcock...regrets already 10Feb 22, 2016 1:07 am Hi Tooraweena, I am so sorry to hear about so many issues with your build. This is the biggest investment for most of us who are building our own home and the last thing we want is for it to be a painful and regretful journey. I hope DAH picks up their game soon and solve the issues of your build and that you can start enjoying the rest of the progress. I would be more concerned with structural problems as doors can be changed 6 years on, but once you are out of structural warranty its a different ball game. If you aren't sure put some photos-up..better safe than sorry later on Remember tradies, SS and Builders can make mistakes.. they should aim at fixing these before its too late. OT,Years ago it was difficult working back to prove cause/effects-> liabilities,it was put in the too hard basket and nobody really cared?, but with software and simulations there's no hiding the facts from the Building Commission and Courts. So far we've had: -wrong front door -slab cracking -wrong vanity unit installed (COMPLETELY different) -Air-conditioning condenser installed in the wrong place - which lead to the bricks being replaced except they used the WRONG Mortar! Completely different colour! Re: Building with Dale Alcock...regrets already 13May 30, 2016 10:52 am Have you had the DAH Site Supervisor "look" yet? The one where when you point out a very obvious and very major issue to them they look at you like you're something they want to scrape off their shoe. Re: Building with Dale Alcock...regrets already 14Nov 18, 2021 3:37 pm Same here, went with Dale Alcock ,initiallly looked a decent builder but we have been delayed,I recommed that dont choose Dale Alcock. As mentioned previously they will look good initially but once you sign the contract they delay and if you ask them the reason there response is to look for another builder if you need it to be build according to their time ,which we cannot do as we have go for the bank loan process all over again. Unfortunately every builder is delayed right now, lack of supplies and trades are not helping at all. If your patio is going to be 35 sqm then that's going to need Council Approval.
