Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Oct 24, 2021 6:55 pm Hi all - I'm trying to help my mum who is building a new house in Perth, WA - we are both completely new to the process etc. We had an architect design the house and the builder has now started construction. Our neighbour is also building a house and when we visited our site he showed us a few things that seemed a bit concerning (he visits his site almost every day) 1. large gaps in brickwork 2. usage of broken bricks 3. both our wall layers being constructed at the same time (in the neighbour's house his inner layer was completed first, then the external layer) I've attached some photos - are these issues that I need be concerned about? Should I get a building inspector / surveyor and if so does anybody have any recommendations. She will be living in this house for a long time so we want to make sure its built properly Thanks Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: building brickwork concern + inspector recommendations 2Oct 25, 2021 7:11 pm Pretty hard to tell from those few photos, but in saying that what you have there looks very average. I would be definitely getting a building inspector, get one that is a registered builder I would send it to the certifier who is technically your representative and working on your behalf not the builder's 1 2278 I do enjoy the drama:-D In his latest two videos he has started bringing security guards to site, I am waiting for the punch on to begin lol 6 45560 I have posted this before: We hired Darbecca to do every stage inspection, and I strongly recommend them to anyone that asks me. They were amazing. Thorough reports… 2 4518 |
