Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Oct 26, 2021 11:25 pm Hi Everyone, We are in Melbourne and currently in the market looking for ideas for our new home. We recently came across a beautiful weatherboard split-level property and immediately felt that this is what we needed for our new place. The vaulted/cathedral style ceiling is our thing. I was wondering if there are any reliable builders in Victoria who specialize in such designs and build, and can help us. I would appreciate any links or references. If you have any questions, please let me know. If you looked closely Bimboy, you'd notice the photos are from an Australian real-estate agent fro a property on market now. Love how you tell them to get off google, but the links you post are to google image searches. Dead set dropkick. OP - you can have whatever you want as long as you have the money to pay for it. What you're looking at is custom and there are plenty of ways to achieve what you want. Traditional, modern etc. But it is going to be custom. That means big bucks. If big bucks is what you have, the best approach would be reach out to an architect or custom home builder with these images. If they cant do it, they can point you to someone who can, then do your due diligence from there. Or you could buy the house you posted? I know there are a number of homes like this in the dandenong ranges in Melbourne (Olinda etc.) might be worth a look too. If I recall there was a guy on this forum that did a home somewhere in the hills that was absolutely stunning that would be in this style. Lots of ornate stone work and vaulted ceilings throughout. I've had a quick look but I cant find the posts. If you don't have the big bucks, I would suggest capping that dream off quick smart and focusing the energy on more common and typical designs though. good luck. Re: Beautiful Vaulted Ceilings - Home Builder Required 4Oct 27, 2021 2:38 pm Greatly appreciate your comment. Yes, we were indeed bidding on this property but were outbid in the end. I guess it wasn't meant to be but the thought of it keeps pushing us towards our dream home. I appreciate your candid advice on the money matter. Not sure about big bucks and in which category we fall in but we are looking for something untypical. I have seen many homes with these styles but rarely anything like the photos attached with 360 views. No wonder it got sold for 1.3M in a not so popular eastern suburb. In the end, we weren't willing to compromise on a couple of issues this house had, like no car port or garage. I have browsed online and found smarthomes doing custom builds like this. Will get in touch and find out. If there are any other 'economical' names, feel free to let me know. Again, thanks for your guidance. Best. If you already have land you own outright, that 1.3ish could get you this and probably a bit more, however if you're juggling purchasing land and building something like this in the eastern suburbs, you're probably pushing the proverbial up hill. Rycon building group in melbourne make beautiful custom weatherboard homes that probably could have features like this, but you'd have to have a chat. Don't know what their prices are like though. Unfortunately, we don't own the land yet but have a couple of blocks in sight. Knowing how much it would cost to build such a home will put us on the right side of the fence.
