Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Oct 20, 2021 3:57 pm Please help. I am very new to building a house and with this BOOM I was only able to get a block that is garage facing North-West direction. Thus, the living area is going to be facing South-East from my understanding. I know it is not the best orientation, but I want to make the house best from my current situation. My question is I will be building a double storie house and I get an option to put the master bedroom to the front of the house (garage side) or I can put this one to the rear so it will be facing South East direction. These are the only choices I have and wanting to ask which one will be the better solution. Thank you. Oh and this block is in Brisbane South, Queensland Re: Garage North West facing block orientation 3Oct 21, 2021 11:20 am I don't think your block is a bad orientation at all. For a hotter climate in Brisbane, It's quite ideal in my opinion. Living in the south east corner is ok. Sun comes in in the morning and will go out when starts to get hot late morning. Just make sure your left hand side west wall is solid with minimum windows so you won't be cooked in the evening. Normally people in QLD build with wider roofs and eaves, you should be fine. As for master bedroom, More importantly for you to consider is what to look at. Do you want to look at your front street or your backyard? Is the front street busy and noisy? If these are not a concern, I would put master bed in the front. Less sunlight in hot summer, some sunlight during colder months.
