Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Oct 17, 2021 1:53 pm We're thinking of doing another build - a double storey, possibly with Carlisle - and the salesperson has knocked us back on a couple of things we've asked about, such as: - Adding bath to ensuite (upstairs) - Upsizing bath in bathroom (also upstairs) - Laundry chute Additionally, we would strongly prefer a Colorbond roof, but Carlisle doesn't seem to offer a Colorbond as an option on their web site (I haven't asked the salesperson about this). I'm also looking to get in-ceiling rear speakers/cabling installed in the theatre room (downstairs) as doing this after handover would be a bit of a nightmare. Last time we built with Henley, there were a number of things that were initially knocked back by the salesperson, but when we were at the quote/tender stage, they were not a problem (just a matter of cost). The Carlisle salesperson said they do cannot change anything in upstairs wet areas other than the standard available options, due to structural concerns on the upper floor, and that they don't do laundry chutes at all. Is this stuff just a matter of the salesperson being limited in what options they can offer before we get to quote/tender stage? Built the Henley Monaco Nouveau Q1 Mk2 in 2015.. Re: Carlisle changes beyond what salesperson says is possibl 3Oct 17, 2021 3:01 pm I just saw the Colorbond option on the Spectra site, just not sure if it is a no-charge option or if it comes at a cost. I understand that the salespeople can't say yes to everything, but I would hate to get to the quote/tender stage and not be able to do things which we consider "must haves". One other thing we want to do is add walls and doors to a couple of rooms which don't have them (office, theatre). Trivial changes, not structural at all. The inability to do this at quote/tender stage would be a deal breaker for us. Unfortunately, after looking through all the usual volume builders (Henley, Metricon, PD, Carlisle, Boutique, Dennis) we have found two floor plans we love and they're both Carlisle. Currently contemplating another new build I engaged my builder in December last year and we’ve been working on preliminary drawings for last couple of months. I got a call from the salesperson this morning… 0 459 yes it is possible but watch for noise transmission, decouple as best you can. Maybe wider top and bottom plates with 70mm studs to allow the cabinet to be recessed fully 1 6636 You can wash over existing pavers with 10% solution of water and hydrochloric acid, then wash off. The acid will provide for required bond key with new concrete. 1 36960 |
