Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Oct 12, 2021 9:00 pm Sharing our build journey photos as a caution to others building with Coral. This was our second build with Coral, the first was 5 years ago and was pretty good. Build journey this time was aweful, customer support just as bad and every job seemed to be drawn out (11 month build). It essentially took almost 2 years from getting tender correct to getting keys and then add a week before I could actually lock the front door. Hire a private inspector from the start to hopefully get them to be more diligent. (provided they even rectify the issues raised as majority of ours were not). If it could go wrong it did and there isn't alot that went right. -Unable to lock front door -Laundry door leaks -Walls out of plumb by upto over an inch -Wavey architrave -Snapped truss -Removed engineered ply bracing -House was flooded due to poorly being poorly weather wrapped (after they plastered and tiled the interior) -Some walls and ceiling ripped out 2-3 times -Garage roof was atleast 300mm short of wall and had to have framing extended -Flooring has chips randomly dotted over house -Lumps under carpet -Every door in house has blow out and chipping from where they were trimmed -Rusty interior hinges -Flashings are porrly fitted and most are already seperating -Sections of house are unpainted (interior and exterior) Adding photos to dropbox every few days for maintenance. (it's an extremly long maintenance list easily 10x the size of first house) Dropbox Ask the council if there is a chance of getting build over easement exemption. Sometimes easements are unused and 24cm is not all that much. Good luck. And yes any builder… 2 13771 In Qld it is a requirement that a builder must have a cost breakdown, for building a home to the same specification, with the same inclusions and the same finish. So ask… 1 4346 Ask for references and speak to them. If they are defensive or try to avoid the request, walk. 1 74708 |
