Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Oct 02, 2021 8:19 pm Hi there new here, so sorry if this is an obvious question. We are currently reading through our building contract and have a question about Registered Certifiers. Do we need to hire both a Registered Certifier and a Building Inspector? Or is a Registered Certifier only required sometimes as the contract says: (c) the builder will notify the owner if a registered certifier is required with respect to particular work done under this contract; (d) the selection of a registered certifier is the sole responsibility of the owner (subject to section 6.6(4A) or 6.12(4A) of the EPA Act 1979) Part of the contract is an attachment from NSW Fair Trading about the Role of registered certifiers and mentions the requirement for the builder to provide this attachment to the owner. This attachment also says: but only if a registered certifier will be required with respect to some/all of the work.. The document indicates that a certifier's responsibilities are pre-construction and during construction at each required stage, so wouldn't everyone need one? Plus a building inspector as from what I've read they do different things? Is anyone able to shed some light on this please? thank you I would send it to the certifier who is technically your representative and working on your behalf not the builder's 1 2229 Hi, I contracted a Builder to do a Garage to Bedroom + ensuite conversion (Class 1a), the Builder engaged the Certifier and Engineer and received BDA from the Certifier… 0 4906 Hi, does anyone have a clue how the Brisbane Development website work in terms of how uptodate the dates on it are (developmenti.brisbane.qld.gov.au).
